A Proud Past

Rebels continue 60+ year tradition

Effingham County High School opened its doors in 1956 after the consolidation of community schools from all around Effingham County. This school would bring students and families from across the miles together into one, centrally located building to provide more educational opportunities for the students of this county. Generations of Effingham families would now have a place to send their students for an education like no other. The building was located a few miles west of Springfield on Georgia Highway 119, nestled beneath the pine trees generations have sung about in the Alma Mater.

As the county began to grow, the high school grew as well, adding more classroom space as needed. By 1989, a new, more modern facility was constructed just a few miles west of the original location.  A new freshman wing was added to the new school in 2006. In January 2026 the school opened the doors to a new addition including a science hallway, new band rooms, a new auxiliary gym, and a state of the art weight room.
